American style Pancakes

I have tried many recipes of pancakes from the Internet and finally found one recipe that produce easy, perfect, fluffy and flavoursome pancakes, according to my husband best pancakes he's ever had!!!. The good thing about this recipe is that you'll probably find most ingredients in your pantry no special additions. I changed the quantities a little bit but works wonders, original recipe can be found here:  www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/fluffyamericanpancak_74828

So here it is! I hope you enjoy them as much as our family.

Ingredients:

- 150 grams of plain flour
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 2 tablespoons of caster sugar
- 150 ml of milk or buttercream milk
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- 2 tablespoons of melted butter

To serve: Maple syrup, honey, butter and cut fruit.

Preparation:

1- Sift the flour, baking powder, salt and caster sugar into a large bowl, mix the dry ingredients until combined. In a separate bowl mix together egg, milk and stir in melted butter, add the liquid ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix with an electrical mixer until just combined, it should be a soft mixture.

2- Spoon pancakes mixture onto a hot pan greased with butter, cook pancakes until golden brown.

3- Enjoy with your favourites toppings.

This recipe with make 4 to 5 pancakes, plain flour and baking powder can be substituted by self raising flour with same results.

I was reading about making perfect American pancakes and adding 1 teaspoon of baking soda to the dry ingredients can make your pancakes extra fluffy, apparently better when combined with buttermilk instead of normal milk because of the acidity of the buttermilk, I guess it's worth a try.

Happy cooking :-)
