Quesillo (Venezuelan creme caramel)


I love this dessert! It is usually made for birthday parties besides the cake, Quesillo is also offered.

Ingredients:

- 1 can of condensed milk.
- 1 can of water or milk (use the empty condensed milk can)
- 1 cup of sugar.
- 5 eggs.
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
- 1 tablespoon of cornflour.
- 4 to 5 tablespoons of sugar for the caramel.

Preparation:
  • Pre heat the oven 175C fan forced.
  • In a 20 cm cake pan add 4 to 5 tablespoons of sugar. Heat and melt the sugar until a brown caramel is formed. Coat all the pan with the caramel, set aside. You can use a non stick cake pan, off course if you have a quesillera, go for it!
  • Mix all the ingredients in a blender.
  • Add the egg mixture into the caramel prepared cake pan.
  • Put the covered pan in a tray with hot water to make the Bain Marie. 
  • Bake for 60 min or until cooked.
  • Cool down the pan, it's better to let it cool at room temperature for at least 1 hour before unmold.
  • Keep it refrigerated.
