Chocolate cake





For those who love chocolate and want to have a treat once in a while or want to surprise family and friends, chocolate such a favourite ingredient loved by I would say 99% of earth population!!! So with this recipe it is guaranteed to be a hit.

Ingredients:

- 1/2 cup of almond meal
- 250 g of good quality dark chocolate
- 1 cup of self-raisin flour.
- 1/2 cup of milk
- 1 cup of caster sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 tablespoon of baking powder
- 250 g of unsalted butter
- 2 flakes cadbury chocolate bars

Ganache:

- 300 ml of thickened cream
- 250 g of dark chocolate
- 2-3 bars of Chocolate Flakes - cut in smaller pieces

Preparation:

Cake:
  1. Pre heat oven at 180C and grease a 20 cm cake tin.
  2. In a heat proof bowl over simmering water, melt 250 g of good quality dark chocolate. Set it aside.
  3. With an electric mixer beat 250 g of unsalted butter until soft and creamy, then add 1 cup of caster sugar and mix well.
  4. Add eggs to the butter - sugar mixture, one at a time.
  5. Fold in milk and melted cool chocolate.
  6. Add sifted flour and baking powder and almond meal.
  7. Mix with electric mixer until well combined.
  8. Pour the mixture into the greased cake tin and bake for 30-40 minutes or until cooked.
  9. Let the cake cool before putting the chocolate ganache and the chocolate flakes.
Ganache:
  1. Heat 300 ml of thickened cream in a cooking pan and add chopped dark chocolate.
  2. Frequently stir the mixture until the chocolate is well combined with the cream.
  3. Set aside to cool down.
Once cake and ganache are cool, add the ganache on top of the cake, you can only cut the cake in half and put ganache in the middle as well as on top,

brake the flakes chocolate bars and sprinkle.


If you want to add extra flavour and take the cake to another dimension, add the rind of one orange to the mixture. It really adds something especial. I got this recipe from www.taste.com.au 100% recommended!
